we've got quite a few guys playing both and ROA has imo a better vision

New dawn wants to change the game drasticly and ROA wants to fix the game and add all the features that were intended while fixing all the bugs and adding various quality of life changes.

we played the alpha for about a month or so until they shut it down until this beta launch

Hey, I've seen Neilk is on the dev team for Rise of Agon so I figured there would be a few people there. I've carefully assessed both projects and I along with the rest of the crew feel like New Dawn has the best design
goals for a populated mmorpg.

There are several reasons for this, among those are:

* Meaningful alignment system changes and focus on racial combat, along with bonuses to group activities. This will help reduce the kill on sight mentality which turned the game more towards an arena pvp game.

* Specialization with the title system, and reduction of spells doing more or less the same thing, the magic system in the old game turned into something quite silly in my opinion, why have 5 rays for example instead of 1? Also the laundry list of self buffs was ridiculous, the list is long there. It is not fun when everyone rolls either hybrid mage with 100 skills/spells or destroyer.

Also the title system for crafter and gatherers feels exciting.

* The New Dawn development team feels very professional and on the ball, I havnt gotten the same impression from most of the Rise of Agon team.

Darkfall is in need of big changes in the New Dawn style to succeed in my opinion, otherwise it will be stuck with a minority playerbase made up of old hardcore fans, which isn't enough to bring the game to its full potential.

tbh I haven't played so much at all lately, I've been playing WoW haha
I just don't want to grind again when it'll be wiped soon.

I do like a lot of the changes new dawn are proposing but I think it's way too ambitious for a small team like them, the only things I really do not like are the local banking and no bindstone recalling. ROA is keeping it simple and I think that even though they dont seem to be as well equipped as the new dawn team they will be able to make Darkfall great again by sticking to simple but good changes.

I do hope both teams succeed and darkfall gets a good playerbase again
